LRIW Welcomes Five New Board Members, Retains Parliamentarian

Washington, DC, February 27, 2015 – The League of Railway Industry Women (LRIW) is pleased to announce the appointment of six new board members. The LRIW Board represents a cross-section of individuals and companies involved in all aspects of railroading. By engaging new leaders, we can continue to improve LRIW as we move forward into a new year. These experienced industry leaders have committed to directing the League's efforts and we are appreciative of their time.

Washington, DC, February 27, 2015 – The League of Railway Industry Women (LRIW) is pleased to announce the appointment of six new board members. The LRIW Board represents a cross-section of individuals and companies involved in all aspects of railroading. By engaging new leaders, we can continue to improve LRIW as we move forward into a new year. These experienced industry leaders have committed to directing the League's efforts and we are appreciative of their time.

“We are pleased to announce these newly appointed board members to the LRIW leadership team and are thankful for their willingness to volunteer. As we plan ahead for 2015 and beyond, their talents and insight will improve our abilities promote women in the rail industry,” said Susan Robertson, LRIW President.

Three members will join the Board as Directors-at-large:
 
  • Joy White, Yard Master, Conrail. White joined Conrail in 2007 in Customer Service. In 2009 she became a crew dispatcher for the company and held the position for two years. Joy began her currently held position as a Yard Master for Conrail in South Jersey in 2011.
  • Tricia Underwood, Director of Damage Defective Car Tracking & Damage Prevention, Watco. Underwood has worked at Watco for 14 years, holding her current position as the Director of Damage Defective Car Tracking and Damage Prevention and Freight Claims for the past two years. Tricia is focused on increasing knowledge of the freight claims group with Watco as well as educating with derailments.
  • Sylvia Newell, Executive Director, Canadian Association of Railway Suppliers. Newell began her career in the railway industry in 2011 with the Canadian Association of Railway Suppliers as an Executive Assistant. She transitioned into the Member Services Coordinator position and quickly advanced. In her current role as Executive Director, Sylvia continues to implement strategies that provide quality member services as well as develop national and international business relationships with key industry leaders, government officials and trade organizations.

  • Northeast Director: Julie Bart Manager of Rail Assets, Nova Chemicals. Bart joined Nova Chemicals in 2014 as Manager of Rail Assets. In this position, Julie is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing railcar maintenance, as well as purchasing contracts, specification, and construction to ensure low cost, regulation compliance and safe, environmentally sound transportation equipment.
  • Director for the Midwest: Sandee Jamison, Asset Manager Shops, TTX. Jamison has 35 years of service at TTX and has held various positions within the company during her career, such as car distribution specialist and Intermodal Specialist Shop Program Supervisor. Sandee currently holds the position of Asset Manager Shops, where she is responsible for all shop programs, meeting shop schedules, and bad order cars for all the Fleets at TTX.
  • Parliamentarian: Victoria Anderson-Lytton, TTX Company Retired. Lytton has been the Parliamentarian for many years and will be retaining this position for another term. She is retired from TTX after 40 years of service.
