Washington, DC, June 2, 2021 – The League of Railway Women (LRW) is excited to announce the appointment of the 2021–22 ‘Railway Woman of the Year' Advisory Chair and Committee; this committee will help select this year's 2021 ‘Railway Woman of the Year' award winner, co-sponsored by stalwart LRW Silver Corporate Partner, Progressive Railroading. Pam Arpin, Vice President, Innovation & Business, CP, and 2019 LRW Railway Woman of the Year (WOY), has been named committee chair and succeeds inaugural chair Mary Proc, former Vice President, Customer Service Delivery, Metrolinx and 2015 WOY.
Pam will be supported by a distinguished roster of Railway Woman of the Year honorees, including Corina Moore, President and CEO, Ontario Northland (2018 WOY) and Deborah (Deb) Butler, retired Norfolk Southern, Board Director of CMS Energy and Consumer's Energy and Board Chair of Patriot Rail & Ports, LLC (2013 WOY).
Since being founded in 1997, for more than twenty-three years, LRW has provided a platform for the recognition of women's leadership contributions to the North American rail industry.
“The caliber of applicants we receive each year is increasingly impressive and consistently exceeds our expectations,” said Lisa Tackach, LRW Awards Chair. “The purpose of this advisory committee is to provide an impartial executive-level review of the candidate applications we receive and make a recommendation. To be eligible to participate on this committee, each member must be a previous WOY award recipient.”
Tackach went on to say, “LRW is grateful for the support of our outgoing inaugural advisory chair, Mary Proc and committee members, Lisa Stabler, President, Transportation Technology Center, Inc. (2017 WOY), Anamaria Bonilla, P.E., Assistant Chief Engineer, Metro North Railroad (2016 WOY), Tracy DeLeon, Owner, International Decal Mgmt Corp. (2012 WOY) and Jo Strang, Senior Vice President, American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (2011 WOY). These impressive leaders helped acknowledge industry champions, Stephanie Wiggins, CEO, LA Metro (formerly CEO, Metrolink) and 2020 WOY honoree and Pam Arpin, 2019 WOY honoree.
The newly appointed committee met for an introductory meeting in April and is currently reviewing the award criteria. The nomination period for the 2021 LRW ‘Railway Woman of the Year' will open in June and close in August. The award winner will be named during a special presentation at this year's LRW Annual Conference.
