Washington, D.C., October 25, 2021 – The League of Railway Women (LRW) welcomes two new deputy chairs to its board of directors: deputy education chair Vickie Vaughn, Marketing Coordinator, BNSF Logistics, and deputy membership chair Shundrekia Stewart, Director, Customer Delivery Operations, Trinity Industries

Vickie Vaughn has been actively involved in supporting this year's webinar program with LRW Education Chair Kari Gonzales. Vickie brings 20 years of experience developing and implementing strategic initiatives, growth planning and needs assessments. She is BNSF Logistics' first-female FAA licensed drone pilot flying missions for the engineering and project rail team. BNSF Logistics is a Bronze LRW Corporate Partner.

“We are so excited to welcome Vickie to the education committee,” said Kari Gonzales, LRW Education Chair. “Over the last few years, we have worked hard to deliver educational sessions through our webinar program that are relevant, led by leading rail industry experts and provide exceptional value to our membership. Vickie's passion for the industry and extensive experience will help us further evolve this program.”

Shundrekia Stewart will be taking over the deputy membership role from Megan Forbes, formerly of Trinity Industries, who has left the rail industry to pursue other opportunities. Shundrekia is an experienced leader with extensive knowledge in rail, surface transportation, infrastructure financing, sales, supply chain management, customer service, and public-private partnerships. Prior to joining Trinity Industries, Shundrekia was with BNSF Railway for 26 years in a variety of roles, most recently as Director of Public-Private Partnerships. Trinity Industries is a Platinum LRW Corporate Partner.

“Shundrekia has an impressive resume within our industry,” said Anne Schlegel, LRW Membership Chair. “Our membership has been growing at historical rates and Shundrekia will help lead programs to improve our newly instated membership management programs and establish new processes and procedures to improve the membership process. We thank Megan for her hard work and great contributions to our team and wish her all the best in her new role!”

LRW Board of Directors elections will take place in 2022 (this excludes any recently appointed deputy chair positions). Members interested in joining the board are encouraged to contact elections@railwaywomen.org.
