Calling All LRW Members: Nominate your 2018 'Outstanding Member of the Year'

Washington, DC, June 11, 2018 – The League of Railway Women (LRW) is accepting nominations for its annual ‘Outstanding Member of the Year' award.

Washington, DC, June 11, 2018 – The League of Railway Women (LRW) is accepting nominations for its annual ‘Outstanding Member of the Year' award.

The LRW Board of Directors will honor an outstanding member – either an individual or corporate partner – who has been committed to improving the railroad industry by connecting and cultivating women in rail, at this year's annual conference in Nashville, TN.

“Our members and corporate partners are vital to the success of our growing organization,” said LRW President Tanis Peterson. “Each year we are proud to recognize the amazing contributions of a member through the LRW Outstanding Member of the Year award,” she stated. “It also gives us an opportunity to highlight the impact that women have on the railway industry every day.”

“Being selected LRW Outstanding Member of the Year was an unexpected surprise,” said Kathee Fisk, Senior Customer Support Engineer, GE Transportation and 2017 LRW Outstanding Woman of the Year. “I was honored to have my efforts for the LRW recognized amid so many dedicated members.”

This year's nomination criteria include,
  • A passion for the rail industry.
  • A dedication to leadership and support for the personal and professional growth of women in the rail industry.
  • A continued commitment to volunteering with LRW over the past year.
  • Individual or corporate efforts to successfully recruit and retain members.
  • Commitment to community service.
The nomination form can be downloaded from the LRW website and submitted until August 15, 2018.

The recipient will be honored at the LRW Annual Membership Meeting at the RSI/CMA 2018 Rail Expo & Technical Conference in Nashville, TN.

Past winners include Kathee Fisk, GE Transportation (2017), Claire Tomlinson, L.B. Foster Rail Technologies Corp. (2016), Carol Steckbeck, Independent Media Consultant (2015), and Amanda Patrick, Railway Supply Institute (2014).

Consecutive winners are not eligible for the award.
