Washington, DC, June 5, 2019 – The League of Railway Women (LRW) has opened nominations for its 2019 Railway Woman of the Year award, co-sponsored by Progressive Railroading.
For two decades, the LRW has been recognizing women who have made significant contributions to the rail industry through their leadership, dedication and vision. Women working in the North American rail industry are eligible to receive this award.
Corina Moore, President and CEO, Ontario Northland and 2018 Railway Woman of the Year said, “The award is a great way to showcase the opportunities that exist for women leaders in the industry, and I am proud to have been a recipient. This important organization and award recognize and support the growth of women in rail, advancing the impact and strength of women in the workplace.”
Nomination criteria and the online nomination form are available on the LRW website, https://www.railwaywomen.org/woman-of-the-year, until August 16.
“With the help of our newly formed Railway Woman of the Year Advisory Committee, we have streamlined the nomination process and introduced an online form that focuses on four key leadership areas. We want to give our candidates the best opportunity to showcase the synergies of their industry and community contributions,” stated Lisa Tackach, LRW Awards Chair.
“Each year we excitedly look forward to reviewing the applications we receive. Hearing about the careers and lives of the candidates never fails to impress us. It is our genuine honor and privilege to be able to shine a light on these industry leaders, with the exceptional and dedicated support of Progressive Railroading and Railway Interchange,” said Tanis Peterson, LRW President.
LRW will formally announce this year's recipient at the General Session of Railway Interchange 2019 on September 23 at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
