Code of Conduct
Although no list advocating ethical behavior and cautioning against misconduct could cover every circumstance, the following is the LRW’s code of conduct (hereinafter, defined as the “Code”), designed to protect LRW, its affiliates and its members. Under this code each employee and contractor shall:
- Conduct all aspects of LRW business in an honest, ethical and legal manner and obey the applicable laws of the United States, the State of Colorado, and of every state and locality where LRW conducts business;
- Conduct work on behalf of LRW with members, suppliers, fellow employees and/or contractors, and the public with the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and fairness;
- Be responsible for his or her actions. No one will be excused from misconduct because another person ordered or asked the employee or contractor to participate in misconduct;
- Alert the President or Executive Director if any dishonest, destructive or illegal act is observed, learned of or reasonably suspected;
- Protect and maintain confidential information that belongs to LRW, its members, and affiliates;
- Ensure that all financial transactions and other documentation are handled honestly and recorded accurately. This commitment extends to the reporting/charging of time and to expense reports;
- Avoid conflicts of interest, both real and perceived. Conflicts of interest are defined as those that are outside activities or personal interests that could influence objective decisions made in the performance of responsibilities;
- Recognize that even the appearance of misconduct or improper behavior can be very damaging to LRW's reputation and employees and contractors will act to prevent such appearances;
- Cooperate fully in any investigation of misconduct;
- Understand that there are consequences for violating this Code. Consequences for violations include loss of LRW membership and/or affiliation;
- Maintain the confidentiality of LRW trade secrets and private or confidential information.
- Do not release internal reports, policies, procedures or other internal business-related confidential communications unless directed to do so by the President.
Harassment has no place in a professional environment and will not be tolerated by LRW. If a member, director, affiliate, employee, or contractor engages in such conduct, appropriate action(s) will be taken, up to and including termination of membership and/or affiliation with LRW, permanently or until further notice.
Individuals who witness or experience inappropriate conduct should report such conduct to the LRW President or LRW Executive Director. Reports may be submitted in person or in writing. Any person submitting a complaint must be acting in good faith and have reasonable grounds for believing the information disclosed indicates a violation of this Code. LRW will promptly investigate all reports of harassment. The investigation may include interviews with the parties who are directly involved and possibly with others. Confidentiality will be maintained to the fullest extent possible, consistent with a thorough investigation.
