Committees

Volunteers drive the agenda of the League of Railway Women and we need your time and talents to continue our efforts to promote women in rail. In addition, you can to grow your own skill set by broadening your knowledge outside of your area of expertise by joining one of the LRW Volunteer Committees [Members must be logged in].

Below is a list of our committees, please choose one and get involved in promoting our industry and women in rail. Only with your support can we create the member-driven organization we strive to be. With each industry woman that volunteers, LRW can paint a better and more diverse picture of how women are improving our industry and encourage more women to join our ranks in rail.

Each committee will schedule a monthly conference call to discuss committee goals and action items for the coming month. A typical time commitment is 2-3 hours a month. The length of commitment is a minimum of one year. It is strongly suggested, though not required, that committee members attend the LRW Annual Conference (held in the fall) for an in person committee meeting with your board chair.

Volunteer Opportunities:

  • Membership Committee: The LRW membership committee works with the the membership chair to promote LRW to potential new members (individual and corporate partners) and helps retain current members. They will assist in the dues renewal process and develop materials/content to promote LRW and encourage new members to join.

This committee is the main organizer for the LRW Annual Conference and is responsible for managing the itinerary and logistics, and helping find conference speakers and locations for facility tours. The events committee works closely with the PR&O committee to ensure it’s being promoted to the membership and potential members.
